Pakistan-born Ali Khan leads USA into ODI World Cup playoffs
Ali Khan, the famous Pakistani-born, produced stunning numbers in one-day cricket to take the United States of America into the ODI World Cup playoffs.
The 32-year-old finished with figures of 32/7 at the United Cricket Club ground as his side beat Jersey by 25 runs to fulfil their dream of playing in the ODI World Cup in India. Only Sri Lanka's Chaminda Vaas took more wickets in an ODI.
In Pakistan, only Shahid Afridi (12/7) has done better in the 50-over international game.
His 7-wicket haul also helped him become the highest wicket-taker (16) in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifying Playoffs.
Born in Attook, Ali Khan moved to the United States as a teenager before taking up cricket in the 2010s. After honing his skills in the Caribbean Premier League alongside some of the best T20 players like Adam Zampa, Martin Guptill and Chris Lynn, he finally made his domestic debut in 2019.
He also continues to make a name for himself in the sport by being selected by Islamabad United and Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League.
Team USA will rely heavily on its skill set to achieve the impossible with bets against Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Nepal, UAE and others to qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup.
