Leading carmaker Suzuki Motor Company has announced another increase in its locally assembled cars due to the depreciation of the local currency during the economic downturn.

Pak Suzuki Motors, which assembles Suzuki cars in South Asian countries, has once again announced new prices. The new rate will be effective April 6, with an increase of up to $0.235 million.

The Alto VX's new price rises to $2,251,000, a difference of $1,010,000. The top-of-the-line Alto AGS model goes up to 2,935,000, a difference of 140,000.

The Wagon R VXR has a $152,000 price increase and a new price of $3,214,000; Wagon R AGS is 3,741,000. The Cultus VXR is $3,718,000 and the Cultus AGS is $4,366,000, a difference of $209,000.

The Suzuki Swift is priced at Rs 4,256,000 while the Swift GLX CVT is priced at Rs 4,962,000 with a difference of around Rs 235,000.

Suzuki has announced factory closures until mid-April due to import issues

Amid current government restrictions due to a shortage of dollars, Suzuki has announced another factory closure as it struggles to import raw materials in the current economic climate.

In a notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the company said the motorcycle plant will remain closed till April 15 and the car plant will be closed from April 7 to April 14 due to dry supply.

"Due to the lack of training, the company's management decided to extend the closure of the motorcycle plant until April 15, 2023," the statement said.
